October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month
This October marks 30 years of celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Down Syndrome is a genetic condition that causes delays in physical and intellectual development. It occurs in one in every 691 live births. The most important fact to know about people with Down Syndrome is that they are more like others than they are different. They can go to regular schools, make friends, enjoy life, and get jobs. For more information on Down Syndrome Awareness Month, visit http://www.ndss.org/.
