February is Children’s Dental Health Month

Posted by & filed under Blog, Member News, Newsroom.

This month, we want to make you more aware of how important dental health is.  Beginning good habits at an early age helps children start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.  Also, going for regular dental visits.

Tooth decay affects many children.  Untreated tooth decay causes pain and infections that may lead to problems such as eating, speaking, playing and learning.

To ensure good oral health for your child:

  • Encourage your child to eat regular nutritious meals and avoid frequent between-meal snacking.
  • Have your child use a fluoride toothpaste.  If your child is less than 7 years old, put only a pea-sized amount on their toothbrush.
  • Talk to your child’s dentist about dental sealants.  They protect teeth from decay.
