Get Vaccinated



Have you had your Vaccines? Adults need vaccines too.

Below are a few of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended immunizations for adults. Be sure to keep track of your immunizations with this Adult-Immunization-Record (PDF) sheet.

Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Td, Tdap)

  • For all adults.
  • Needed every 10 years
  • Prevents lockjaw. This can come from a cut.
  • Tetanus kills about 1 out of 5 people who get it

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

  • Sexually transmitted virus
  • Commonly leads to cervical cancer
  • All women 19-24 years old

You may need other shots too. People with certain health conditions may also need:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Zoster (shingles)
  • Pneumococcal (pneumonia caused by strep bacteria)
  • Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B (liver disease)
  • Meningococcal (meningitis)

  • Needed every 10 years

Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4)

  • Prevents meningitis. This is an infection of the spinal fluid.
  • All teens 11 – 18 years. Usually given at 11-12 years of age.
  • Also given to college freshmen living in dormitories

  • HPV is a sexually transmitted virus
  • Commonly leads to cervical cancer
  • Series of 3 shots

These shots help keep them from getting certain illnesses. Check with your doctor to see if your child needs these or other immunizations. On or before you child’s 2nd birthday, he or she should have:

4 DTaP  -  3 Polio  –  3 Hib  -  3 PCV  –  3 Hep B  –  1 MMR  -  1 Varicella  -  2 Rotavirus
